ABOUT
For over four decades, Amir has devoted his life to the practice and preservation of Marbling (Abr-o-Bād) and Persian Calligraphy; two art forms rooted in patience, tradition, and deep human connection. Trained under the guidance of master calligrapher Gholam Hossein Amirkhani, Amir became part of a living lineage of artists committed not only to craft, but to continuity.
Throughout his career in Iran, Amir created more than 1,000 works and held numerous exhibitions, establishing himself as one of the most prolific contemporary practitioners of traditional marbling and calligraphy. Yet for Amir, the true value of art has never been measured by output alone, it lies in transmission. He has spent years teaching students of all ages, passing down generational techniques and philosophies that might otherwise be lost.
A life-altering illness forced Amir to step away from his profession as a dentist, reshaping his future in unexpected ways. In that moment of transition, marbling and calligraphy became more than artistic disciplines, they became a source of healing, stability, and purpose. Through art, Amir found a way to navigate change, reconnect with meaning, and rebuild his life with intention.
Today, with the support of Parsa, Ali, and Sophie, Amir shares this journey through workshops and community programs designed to make marbling accessible to all. These gatherings are not simply lessons in technique; they are spaces for reflection, collaboration, and belonging. Marbling’s openness, its embrace of chance, patience, and imperfection, mirrors the values at the heart of this work.
Our mission is to use art as a tool for connection and well-being: to preserve cultural heritage, foster inclusivity, and create opportunities for people to experience the restorative power of making something together. By learning marbling, participants are invited not just to create, but to slow down, to listen, and to become part of a shared artistic community that transcends borders and backgrounds.
